Young People

Close partnership working with Wandsworth Youth Services has informed the development of responsive and enriching projects for young people over the years. The most recent initiative is a series of artists’ residencies in five youth clubs across Wandsworth.

Artists’ were recruited in partnership with Wandsworth Youth Council and included a visual artist, a spoken word performer and a circus group. Residencies took place over three months with the following key aims:

  • To take young people using the youth clubs, as well as youth workers, out of comfort zones
  • To enhance the profile of the youth club offer – attract new users
  • To try a new way of working/ engaging young people with the arts

The relationships forged as a result have been so successful that some of the residencies have been continued independently, including one in a youth club for severe learning disabilities and complex needs.
