Arts Marketing and Communications Officer

We are looking for a skilled marketing and communications professional to join our team. The Arts Service deliver, on Wandsworth Council’s behalf, a number of cultural activities including: the annual Wandsworth Arts Fringe and Wandsworth Artist Open House festivals, the Pump House Gallery, the Cultivate education programme, cultural regeneration projects which embed cultural opportunities into the local community and numerous ad hoc projects.

This role is instrumental in promoting all these strands of our work. The Arts Marketing and Communications Officer will work closely with all other members of the Arts Service to deliver innovative and successful marketing and communications strategies to communicate the breadth of our work, attract audiences and recruit participants.

Wandsworth Artists’ Open House 2019 Coordinator

(anticipated 32 days work)

Location: Wandsworth

Fee: £4800 including expenses

Duration: May 2019 – October 2019

Closing date: Monday 6th May 2019 at 1pm

Interviews: Will be held mornings of 9th & 10th May

We are seeking an experienced arts coordinator to develop and lead the annual Wandsworth Artists’ Open House (WAOH) festival.

The Coordinator duties will include:

• Project manage the creation of a new WAOH website

• Developing a workplan and programme for WAOH 2019 which focusses on increasing artist participation and visitor engagement

• Work closely with the 5 artists steering group representatives representing the 5 areas that make up WAOH to ensure that they are part of the decision-making processes and on board with the delivery of the initiatives. This will involve 4 evening meetings between June and October.

• Launch the WAOH’s 2019 & manage artists registration process

• Overall responsibility for the delivery of the festival and all associated strands of work

• Approach and coordinate local businesses/organisations advertising in the WAOH brochure

• Work with a designer to produce the festival brochure & marketing materials

• Oversee the distribution of the publicity material, with an aim to increase the visibility of the festival

• Artist liaison and support

• Social media for the festival

• Evaluation of the 2019 programme

Volunteer Personal Trainer Opportunity

Would you like to use your professional skills to make a positive difference to people in your community?
We are looking for qualified personal trainers, who are willing to give 1 hour per week to work with people with disabilities or long-term health conditions. The project aims to match Personal Trainers to people who need extra support. Becoming physically active can be a truly life changing experience for people with disabilities, however many do not have access to the individualised support they need to get started. This is a unique opportunity to positively impact someone’s health and wellbeing whilst gaining new skills and experience.

• Willingness to learn from clients and adapt personal training style to suit their needs.

• Passionate about helping people and willing to give up 1 hour of your time per week without financial gain, for 12 weeks.
The time and day of your sessions can be flexible and will be determined by you and your client. We will provide you with access to gym facilities at Wandle Recreation Centre (SW18 4DN) to conduct your sessions. Out of pocket travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Volunteer Move More Instructor Role Description

As a volunteer Move More Instructor, you will be helping people living with cancer to become more active. As well as helping to ensure exercise classes are friendly and safe, volunteers are ambassadors of Macmillan’s Move More initiative and help people living with cancer understand the benefits of physical activity, which can really make a big difference to their lives.

Role responsibilities

As a volunteer, you would be responsible for:

• Welcoming participants to the class and helping conduct safety checks to ensure participants are well enough to exercise.

• Help monitor participants exercise intensity and ensure participants are exercising safely.

• Help provide exercise instruction and correct participant’s techniques when appropriate.

• Provide motivation and encouragement.

• Help set up the class.

Skills needed

The main skill we need from our volunteers is enthusiasm and a positive attitude. In addition, we like our volunteers to be:

• Friendly, and welcoming with good communication skills.

• Knowledgeable about exercise and cancer rehabilitation.

• Confident at providing exercise instruction.

• Observant and sensitive to the needs of others.

• Able to take control and be assertive when needed.

• Reliable, punctual, honest and well-organised. The benefits

Most exercise classes are 1 hour. We would expect volunteers at arrive 15 minutes before the class and be available to chat to participants after the class. The minimum time commitment is therefore around 1.5 hour per week.

Lifeguard (casual) Location: Wandsworth

Grade and rate: ENCa1, £10 an hour

We’re looking for a number of enthusiastic and dedicated lifeguards ensure the safety of children on the Community Swim Programme in the borough of Wandsworth. You will need to be reliable, energetic and enthusiastic with an ability to engage participants, spot hazards and prevent accidents while following ASA guidelines. Working hours and days will vary. Enable are committed to ensuring the well being and safety of all the children and staff, and as such any successful application will be subject to an enhanced check by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
