The HR Apprentice will be a key member of the HR team, providing comprehensive human resources support to the whole organisation. The apprentice will be engaged in a full HR generalist role from administration, payroll, benefits, contractual matters, wellbeing, absence management and maintenance of the HR database.

With the HR apprenticeship qualification alongside the day-to-day training and guidance of the team, the apprentice will be developed to provide 1st line support with pay, benefits and all general queries from employees, providing comprehensive advice. They will be working with line managers on their recruitment needs, supporting with checking job descriptions, job adverts, RTW, interview bookings and process. You will have responsibility for maintaining and updating the HR system with employee data and providing training, guidance and support for HR system users.

You will have the ability to build effective relationships, both internally and externally, showing sensitivity to others’ viewpoints and valuing diversity.  Excellent attention to detail with strong written, numeracy and Microsoft Office (word, excel, PowerPoint) skills are desirable.

As an excellent organiser, you will have the ability to work on your own initiative in a structured way, prioritise a wide range of activities and use available resources to ensure tasks are completed to deadlines.

The role will follow the HR apprenticeship programme and will culminate in an endpoint assessment with CIPD accreditation.

This role would be perfect for someone just starting out in their HR career and looking for a new challenge with a qualification at the end of it or someone who has a keen interest to kick start their career in a challenging engaging environment where they will be supported to succeed.

Experience is not essential for this role, it’s more important than the person having the aptitude to learn quickly and can demonstrate their drive and application to work with us.

  • Accurate payroll, pension & general administration with excellent attention to detail  
  • Maintaining HR data base with accurate starter/onboarding & leaver administration 
  • Supporting managers with recruitment, reviewing and posting Job adverts  
  • Supporting with DBS & RTW check administration  
  • Building relationships with line managers to effectively and competently give HR advice  
  • Writing and distribution of letters or contractual amendments 
  • Support managers with attendance reviews & performance management  
  • Willingness to embrace the role and learn with a genuine enthusiasm for a HR career
