The Health and Wellbeing Department deliver a range of programmes to improve the health of our participants. We target those most in need and utilise community-based, person-centred approaches to deliver excellent programmes.

This exciting new post will work specifically to deliver and lead the Guys Get Active, men’s weight management programme, and to identify and develop new opportunities to enhance programme development. The postholder will be responsible for all aspects of the programme, this will include supervising casual staff, planning, promotion, reporting and developing new opportunities where appropriate.

We are looking for someone who is an experienced project manager with related experience in a similar field. We encourage applicants from the local area to apply as local knowledge will be important for success in this role. You should be comfortable communicating with a wide range of partners, have strong organisational skills, and have good problem-solving abilities.

This role will be based at Enable offices in Battersea Park

Job Purpose

  • Responsible for leading and developing the men’s weight management programme, Guys Get Active in Wandsworth.
  • Identify and develop new opportunities to enhance the programme delivery.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for leading and developing all aspects of the men’s weight management programme, Guys Get Active. This includes planning development, delivery, promotion, and reporting.
  2. Recruit, train and supervise delivery staff and volunteers to deliver the programme ensuring all members of the team are appropriately qualified. This includes rewarding and motivating the team.
  3. Develop partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders to support the delivery and growth of the programmes.
  4. Explore and identify opportunities for programme development and innovation and where necessary apply for additional funds to enhance the service.
  5. Working with Enable Marketing and Communications department, create and implement a marketing and communication plan. This will include press releases, social media activity, producing promotional literature.
  6. Present and promote the programme to health professionals, including primary care, NHS Health Checks, Public Health, and other relevant bodies to increase referrals.
  7. Attend community events to promote the Guys Get Active programme and other local physical activity opportunities.
  8. Manage programme budgets as required. Monitor and document income and expenditure according to Enable policy and procedure.
  9. Input new referrals and assessment data onto the Views system and monitor/update regularly. Record and manage key outcomes and indicators effectively to ensure reporting is accurate and delivered on time.
  10. Monitor and evaluate the impact of your work. Provide written reports, summaries, and presentations as required.
  11. Research and promote, or if required develop, suitable exit routes to participants at the end of each programme.

Generic Duties and Responsibilities

  1. To comply with all Enable’s Codes of Practice, including the Code of Conduct, and policies and procedures concerning data protection, safeguarding and health and safety.
  1. The postholder will be required to work some evenings or weekends to support Enable and programme events or sessions.
  2.   4. To carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the overall function, commensurate with the grading and level of responsibilities of the post.
  • Knowledge & awareness of relevant national, regional and local policies and initiatives within health, physical activity & public health.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the benefits of physical activity, and the barriers to being physically active.
  • Knowledge of weight management and behaviour change models and understanding of the benefits of a person-centred approach.
  • Knowledge of Wandsworth and the community organisations that operate in the borough. (desirable)
  • Experience of physical activity or sports development work or similar employment/voluntary role.
  • Experience of delivering weight management (or similar) programmes for adults.
  • Experience of working with target groups to encourage participation in sport or physical activity.
  • Project management experience, preferably relating to working with partner organisations and planning, delivering, and evaluating projects.
  • Experience of recruiting, deploying, supervising and training staff and volunteers, including strategies for motivating and rewarding them.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to converse with key people (including clients and the public) and develop new networks using a range of methods, including; oral, written, telephone and in meetings.
  • Strong IT and web-based skills, with experience of using all applications within the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Able to meet customers’ needs and ensure customers and stakeholders receive an excellent service
  • Good monitoring and evaluation skills with the ability to bring together multiple data sets and analyse data. Ability to present this data for a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to work alone and effectively prioritise workload to meet the demands of the job in a timely manner.
  • Able to work effectively with others in a team openly and collaboratively, valuing their differences creating a working environment which helps achieve goals
  • Holds an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification in health, sport or exercise sciences (or similar) to demonstrate expertise.
  • Commitment to valuing equality and diversity and understanding of how this applies to Enable.
  • Commitment to own professional and personal development and willingness to undertake training and development as appropriate to the role.
  • Flexibility; able to work at multiple locations, and work hours required by post including early mornings, evenings, weekends and bank/public holidays.
