Enable Leisure and Culture provide a wide range of services across a leisure and cultural portfolio contracted out by Wandsworth Council.

Based in the Enable Leisure & Sport office in Battersea Park this post will be the lead on a number of programmes. Working on targeted participation projects within community and local schools. The role will have a focus on growing the school coaching programme and young person’s offer and running competitions and the London Youth Games Programme. You will need to be organized, able to develop and grow programmes, building key relationships and partnerships as well as successfully applying for external funding, which will be key to sustain and extend provision.

Job Purpose

  • To be the Borough Team Organizer for Wandsworth co-ordinating the entry process, team trials and training, marketing and promotion for the London Youth Games  
  • Responsible for co-ordination and development of the Schools and Community Coaching programme in Wandsworth recruiting and deploying coaches. 
  • Develop a CPD programme for Primary Schools helping to up skill teachers, coaches and school staff.
  • Lead on termly PE Forums for Primary School teachers and advocate programmes such as regular running. 
  • Co-ordinate the administration of the Wimbledon Junior Tennis Initiative liaising with local Primary Schools and All England Club Wimbledon 
  • Lead on Primary and Secondary School Competitions, specifically Cross Country, Athletics. 
  • Deliver Schools Competitions to the highest standard ensuring staff and volunteers are properly trained and qualified where appropriate. Ensure each event is fully risk assessed and first aid provision is covered. 
  • Lead on Wandsworth’s entry and participation to the annual Mini Marathon. 
  • Support Secondary Schools with affiliation to London Schools and the logistics for participating. 
  • Assist in the coordination of the local events and Festivals such as the Active Wandsworth Awards.

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Recruit, deploy and monitor the delivery of qualified sports coaches in local primary and secondary schools and college settings. 
  • Project manage the London Youth Games programme including the annual entry, trials and training, promotion of activities, school and community engagement and designing and ordering of team kit   
  • Develop a schools support package and a schools challenge to engage schools into the programme. 
  • Develop a PE Offer in partnership with the School Games Organiser including co-ordinating a CPD programme and leading the delivery to up skill some school staff and young leaders. 
  • Co-ordinate alongside Wandsworth’s School Games Organiser termly PE Forums, presenting updated information on the PE & Sport Premium, link with external organisations such as local clubs.  
  • Co-ordinate the administration of the Wimbledon Junior Tennis Initiative liaising with local Primary Schools and All England Club Wimbledon 
  • Lead the promotion and marketing of the PE Offer; creating web content, marketing, events and promotional material. 
  • Up skill and support coaches and volunteers, to build capacity and develop a workforce to support high quality delivery across several sports and areas of the curriculum. 
  • Be responsible for the budget, monitoring expenditure and income. Provide financial reports on all programmes. 
  • Identify external sources of funding to support the development of all programmes 
  • Provide monthly performance figures and regular reports ensuring regular communication to share good examples and lessons learnt. 
  • Responsible for collection, collation and analysis of data. Take responsibility for measurement and evaluation of all project activities and engagement programmes providing the required information internally and to partners.

  • Required to regularly travel inside and outside of the borough either by driving, cycling or using public transport. Required to drive Enable’s vehicles both in and outside the borough when appropriate.  
  • Experience of working with schools and community organisations and with a workforce, including coaches, instructors and volunteers.  
  • Able to demonstrate successful delivery of projects demonstrating growth and development of programmes. 
  • Experience of successfully managing relationships with different types of staff and organisations delivering sport and physical activity – from the sport, education, health, statutory and voluntary sectors. 
  • Understanding of the importance of market research, and marketing differently to different audiences, especially the challenges of engaging new audiences, and aware of the different tools available to support effective project delivery. 
  • Experience and understanding of the importance of monitoring and evaluation and effective use of the analysis of the results.  
  • Experience of designing and co-ordinating training courses and where relevant with links to employment or volunteering opportunities 
  • Experience of running events including recruiting staff and ensuring health and safety requirements such as risk assessments are completed. 
  • Experience of recruiting, deploying  and managing coaches, instructors, volunteers and young people 
  • Experience of successfully applying for external funding to support the ongoing running of activities. 
  • Ability to engage new partners, create strong, lasting and effective connections working towards shared outcomes.  
  • Proficient in managing several projects at once, prioritising and managing resources, information and communications. 
  • Able to handle a broad range and often large amount of information and analyse successfully to build a very good understanding of people and organisations.  
  • Budget management skills – ability to manage budgets effectively. 
  • Confident, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to successfully promote and publicise programmes including the use of social media, creating web content and press releases.
