We are looking for enthusiastic and positive individual to join our team at PSAD. You must be a clear communicator who prides themselves on providing excellent customer service.  

You will need to be reliable and self-sufficient with an ability to prioritise your work and use your initiative to undertake a variety of tasks including maintenance of equipment and consumables.  

You will have some previous experience of working in a Print Studio with emphasis on health and safety practice.

PURPOSE OF ROLE:    

Responsible to the Operations Manager at Putney School of Art and Design for maintenance of all equipment used in the Print Studio. 

Works to Health and Safety standards and guidelines at all times, to ensure safe working practices of all staff, public and contractors in the working environment, in accordance with the school’s safety arrangements, policies and codes; reports potential hazards to the Operations Manager and takes responsibility for personal actions and for maintaining a tidy environment in the workplace. 

You’ll provide high-quality and consistent practice on the diverse range of operational needs at the school and you will be required to deputises for the operations manager if / when on duty in the evenings and / or at weekends. 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION  

  • Responsible for ensuring that COSHH assessment forms are available to tutors for consumable materials, including hazardous chemicals, inks and dyes used in the print studio, and for ensuring safe storage and use of these materials.   
  • Assists Operations Manager in drawing up risk assessments for all studio practices. 
  • Responsible for ensuring that Health and Safety notices for students are displayed, and Health and Safety induction sheets are up to date and available in the studio.  
  • Liaises with teaching staff to ensure the provision of new materials and equipment to facilitate student learning.  
  • Keeps a stock check on all consumables used in the studio and to advise the Operations Manager in good time for ordering materials and repairs to equipment. 
  • Responsible for handling of student work –storing and presenting with due care. 
  • Ensures that studio facilities are in good order each week for the purposes of teaching. 
  • Liaises with Premises Officers to ensure that studio is clean, tidy and all equipment and course materials are in place. 
  • Responsible for adherence to the School’s Equal Opportunities policy statement and strategy and ensures its principals are applied to all aspects of services to the public. 
  • Generally, promotes the services of the School and Enable Leisure and Culture by assisting the public in person, in a helpful and courteous manner. 
  • Assists with health and safety management at the school.  Ensures a safe working environment is maintained in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act.  Ensure all accidents are recorded. 
  • Assists as required in any other duties within the school. 
  • To comply with all of the company policies, including the Code of Conduct, data protection and health and safety. 
  • To be fully aware of and understand the duties and responsibilities arising from the Children Act 2004 and Working Together in relation to child protection and safeguarding children and young people. To also be fully aware of the principles of safeguarding as they apply to vulnerable adults in relation to your work role.  
  • To ensure that your line manager / safeguarding officer is made aware and kept fully informed of any concerns which you may have in relation to safeguarding and/or child protection.  
  • To carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the overall function of the school. 
  • Experience of working in a Print Studio and customer care 
  • Knowledge of importance of Health and Safety in a teaching studio 
  • Willingness to be flexible to help meet urgent and important business deadlines 
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organisational and planning skills. Can prioritise own workload with good time management abilities. Can work under pressure and meet deadlines 
  • Ability to problem-solve and make decisions when needed  
  • Ability to deal with staff and at all levels of seniority 
  • Ability to attend meetings or work out of hours as required; some flexibility also required on occasions such as recruitment and training.
