Guys Get Active Summer 2020 launching soon!

Wandsworth Council launch their summer series of Guys Get Active – a programme to help men in Wandsworth lose weight and become fitter while enjoying sports.

Been meaning to get into some sort of exercise but don’t know where to start? Need help shifting a few pounds? Want a men’s focused session with other guys in your league? Come and join our Guys Get Active programme and start as you mean to go on.

Registration for summer 2020 is on Monday 6th July in Battersea and Wednesday 8th July in Tooting, with the sessions starting the week after for 10 consecutive weeks. For only £20 per course each member will get the opportunity to choose from two different exercise sessions led by qualified instructors, and a virtual nutrition session by one of the trained professionals at Enable Leisure and Culture.

To be part of this programme you must be male and live, work or be registered with a GP in the Wandsworth borough with a BMI of 27.5+ or a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes.

Whether you are new to football or want to touch up on some of your skills, this session is suitable for all football and fitness levels. Our qualified coach will put you through your paces with some football drills and training as well as a range of circuit-style exercises to improve your fitness and help you lose weight. Our virtual exercise class is the second option and is a men’s only fitness-based session delivered virtually via Zoom. Our qualified exercise instructor will introduce you to a range of exercises to improve your cardiovascular health, muscular strength and endurance, joint flexibility as well as help you to lose weight. As all exercises can be adapted to suit individual needs, this session is suitable for all fitness levels.

Through the virtual nutrition session, delivered via Zoom, you will learn how the food you eat plays a vital role in reducing body fat and helping you lose weight. Our qualified nutritionist will help you understand the importance of healthy eating through a range of different topics and provide ongoing support throughout the programme. Partners will be invited to partake in a selection of the topics to allow the nutrition advice to be implemented at home.
