Guys Get Active

Been meaning to get into some sort of exercise but don’t know where to start? Need help shifting a few pounds? Want a mens focused session with other guys in your league? Come and join our Guys Get Active programme and start as you mean to go on.

There are two exercise sessions to choose from: a group football or exercise session and a virtual exercise session. Both are led by qualified instructors or coaches and are tailored to enable you to achieve your goals. Each week you will weigh in and receive nutritional advice from our qualified nutritionist to help you make healthy lifestyle changes.

Qualifying criteria:

  • Male 18 years +
  • Live, work or be registered with a GP in the Wandsworth borough
  • BMI of 27+ (to calculate your BMI click here)

Football or exercise session

*Subject to Government guidelines. A socially distanced group exercise session will be delivered in place of football if required.

We have reached capacity and this session is now full. There is the potential to add a second in-person session if sufficient interest is registered.

Shillington Park, Battersea SW11 2TT

Mondays 7-8pm

Whether you are new to football or want to touch up on some of your skills, this session is suitable for all football and fitness levels. Our qualified coach will put you through your paces with some football drills and training as well as a range of circuit-style exercises to improve your fitness and help you lose weight. All exercises can be adapted to ensure you are getting the most out of your sessions. Sign up here.

Virtual Exercise Session

Wednesdays 7-8pm (via Zoom)

This is a men’s only fitness-based session delivered virtually via Zoom. Our qualified exercise instructor will introduce you to a range of exercises to improve your cardiovascular health, muscular strength and endurance, joint flexibility as well as help you to lose weight.

As all exercises can be adapted to suit individual needs, this session is suitable for all fitness levels. Whether you are new to exercise or you want to improve your existing fitness level, this class can help you achieve your goals. You can sign up here.

Virtual Nutrition Session

Thursdays 7-8pm (via Zoom)

The food you eat plays a vital role in reducing body fat and helping you lose weight. It can also make you feel more confident and reduce your risk of disease. Our qualified nutritionist will help you understand the importance of healthy eating through a range of different topics and provide ongoing support throughout the programme.

Don’t do the cooking at home? Partners will be invited to join some of the sessions to help you adopt your new healthy eating knowledge at home. You can sign up here.

2020 dates

We will be holding registration days to collect your weight, height, hip measurements and blood pressure. This will help you track your progress throughout the programme. Participants will be allocated a time slot and all staff will be equipped with the appropriate PPE.

Registration evenings:

  • Monday 20th July (Battersea)
  • Wednesday 22nd July (Tooting)

The sessions will then begin on the following days:

  • Monday 27th July – Football/Exercise session
  • Wednesday 29th July – Virtual Exercise session
  • Thursday 30th July – Virtual Nutrition session

How much does it cost?

Each course costs £20, working out at only £2 per session.

What if I’m not fit enough?

Everyone who is in the programme is in the same situation and wants to lose weight, and as you exercise more and lose more you’ll get fitter too. Don’t forget the weight lost each week will be converted into goals for the game, so you can still support the team as a non-playing member.

Can I join as a team as well as on my own?

Yes. You can join as a whole team, a few mates, or just as an individual. We’ll form the teams at our registration event shortly before the programme starts.

What’s included in the fee?

The fee covers everything needed for the programme – pitch and hall hire, coach, personal trainer, nutritionists, equipment, even some medals and trophies at the end of the course!
