Kick the Fat

The weight loss football league

Starting Saturday 9th February 2019, Kick the Fat is a 7-a-side league with a difference, it’s only for players who want to lose weight.

To help motivate players to lose weight everyone is weighed each week before the game and the weight you lose is converted into goals on the pitch. To help you with this, each week you’ll get a chance to meet with a qualified nutritionist to get tips, and advice on your diet.

The league takes place at Furzedown Recreation Centre, SW17 9BP. The league will run for 10 weeks, with 30 minute matches taking place between 10am and 12noon each week.

Kick the Fat is perfect for all abilities and fitness even if you haven’t played football for a long time. You don’t have to play every week as even non-playing team mates can still lose weight and contribute to the score. The league is only for people with a BMI 30+ and everyone is here to lose weight.

Kick the Fat is subsidised by Wandsworth Council and costs just £20 for the 10 weeks. For more information please see our FAQ’s below.

What if I’m not fit enough?
Everyone who is in the league is in the same situation and wants to lose weight, and as you
play more and lose more you’ll get fitter too. Don’t forget the weight lost each week will be converted into goals for the game, so you can still support the team as a non-playing member.

Can I join on my own?
Yes. You can join as a whole team, a few mates, or just as an individual. We’ll form the teams at our registration event shortly before the league starts.

What’s included in the £20 fee?
The £20 fee covers everything needed for the 10 week league – pitch hire, referees, nutritionists, equipment, even some medals and trophies at the end of the league! The costs for this programme are being subsidised by Wandsworth Council. If you’ve got any other questions please get in touch.
