Nominate Your Sporting Heroes
2017 Active Wandsworth Awards
The nominations open on Friday 1 December for the 2017 Active Wandsworth Awards for Sport and Physical Activity. On behalf of Wandsworth Council, Enable Leisure and Sport host the annual awards where the public can nominate their local sporting heroes.
With eleven separate categories, the awards look to recognise a whole range of people who have excelled throughout the year of 2017 or who have shown an ongoing dedication to sport over a number of years.
Individuals are acknowledged for their achievements through the Sports Person of the Year category, however there are various other categories for those people who make sport happen namely the volunteers, coaches and sports clubs as well as specific Physical Activity projects that get more people participating in sport or activity. Disability Sport and Teams are also recognised at both a community level as well as school teams.
The closing date for nominations is 8 January 2018 and can be made online at www.enablelc.org/active or to find out more please call (020) 8871 8154
Cabinet member for community services Councillor Jonathan Cook said: “The Active Wandsworth Awards highlight some of the best sporting achievement in the borough, and recognise those who make it happen. I’m sure this year’s awards will be no exception to the high standards we have seen in the past, so don’t forget to get your nominations in before the deadline, and help recognise those who have made a big contribution to local sport over the last year.”
Peter Freeman, Sport and Physical Activity Manager at Enable, said: “This is a great way to credit talented local sports people for their efforts – I would encourage people to put a name forward.”
The Active Wandsworth Awards are run by Enable Leisure & Culture, which provides sports services on behalf of Wandsworth Council.
