Nominations open for the 2016 Active Wandsworth awards

active_wandsworthThe Active Wandsworth awards are searching for this year’s sporting heroes, and now is the time to put nominations forward.

The annual awards are now in their 20th year, and recognise the talent, dedication and commitment that fuels the borough’s sporting life.

There are 11 awards categories, and Wandsworth sportspeople, teams, clubs, coaches and volunteers can all be nominated for their achievements.

Nominations can be made online, and close on Sunday 8 January 2017.

The awards ceremony will take place on 10 February 2017, hosted by Sky Sports news presenter David Garrido.

Cabinet member for community services Councillor Jonathan Cook said: “The Active Wandsworth Awards always showcase some of the borough’s best sporting talent, and I’m sure this year’s awards will be no exception.

“Don’t forget to get your nominations in before the deadline, and help recognise those who have made a big contribution to local sport over the last year.”

Peter Freeman, Sport and Physical Activity Manager at Enable, said: “This is a great way to credit talented local sports people for their efforts – I would encourage people to put a name forward.”

The Active Wandsworth Awards are run by Enable Leisure & Culture, which provides sports services on behalf of Wandsworth Council.
