Free Live Screening of FIFA’s Women’s World Cup

This Tuesday, 2 July, Wandsworth Council are proud to show a free live screening of FIFA’s Women’s World Cup Semi Finals in Battersea Park, supported by the Mayor of London.

With the 3 – 0 win against Norway on Thursday, it has pushed the team to new levels of success. With the incredible Captain Steph Houghton at the helm, England delivered their strongest performance in the tournament so far.

This Tuesday, the team will be taking on holders USA, with everything on the line, it is set to be an electric game. With the heat wave on the way, there will be a great atmosphere in the park with street food and a well-stocked bar, beers on tap and jugs of PIMMs to hand.

The event will be open from 12 noon, so you can bag the best spot and grab drinks at the bar. From 5pm street food traders will be serving mouth-watering plates and the pre-match coverage will be begin at 7.30pm with the game starting at 8pm.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “Everybody is hugely excited by the success of the England Women’s World Cup team and I know that Londoners of all ages and backgrounds will want to cheer on the Lionesses this Tuesday night.

I am delighted that we have been able to work closely with Wandsworth Council to arrange this screening in Battersea Park for what should be a great sporting occasion.”

Councillor Steffi Sutters, cabinet member  for community services and open spaces said: “Our parks are an ideal place for the community to come together, and what better place than beautiful Battersea Park to meet friends, enjoy the game and support the Lionesses on Tuesday as they battle for a place in the World Cup final.”
