Current Consultations and Information Sharing

£384,000 has been granted by Wandsworth Council to pay for a revamp of this popular lakeside playground and we asked to hear your ideas on how this money can best be spent.

We undertook consultation between 19th September and 14th November 2023 to find out what you think makes a great playground and what new equipment you would like to see here.  What you told us will form the basis of a more detailed consultation that will contain final proposals for suggested improvements. Our aim is to deliver a new look playground that provides exciting and challenging play facilities for all the intended ages.

The consultation is currently closed whilst we analyse the feedback you have given us in round one.

All of the feedback is being used to inform the final design choices for a refurbished playground. We will publish a summary of the results in early 2024 and we hope to go live with the second round of consultation in March 2024.

This consultation has now ended. Wandsworth Council approved paper no 23-398 on 23rd November 2023, a report which details the outcome of this consultation.

The report can be found here: PRIVATE AND CONFIDENTIAL (wandsworth.gov.uk)

£143,000 has been granted for improvements to the playground in Coronation Gardens, with a further £30,000 given towards biodiversity improvements in and around the space.

The first round of consultation held between August and September 2022 helped us to understand what local residents think of the current playground, if and how they currently use this facility and how they think it could be improved. Based on the feedback we received, three potential playground designs were developed. The second stage of consultation held in April/May 2023 asked local residents to comment on and rank the three different designs. You can access the report here:

Wandsworth Council are pleased to share with you the final design for the £428,115 refurbishment at Harroway Gardens. This money has been allocated via the S106 scheme to secure enhancements at this site. The S106 scheme pays for new and improved community facilities using funding collected from private development projects in the surrounding area.

We would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Harroway Gardens Improvements Consultation last winter. There were 50 responses to the online survey, with 90% of respondents living locally to the Harroway Gardens area.

Residents were also engaged via two in person drop-in sessions, a flyer sent to all local houses and emails to local community groups. Option 1 came out as the preferred option overall and is attached below. The final design is subject to planning permission and budget constraints.

Works are scheduled to begin in 2023. More detail will be provided closer to the time.

For more information, please email parks@enablelc.org or call 020 3595 0060.

Wandsworth Council are excited to share with you the final design for the £201,200 Windmill Playground refurbishment, bringing the Council’s investment in playgrounds on Wandsworth Common to over £400,000 in the last three years.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the Windmill Playground Improvements Phase 2 Consultation in December 2020. There were 77 responses to the online survey, with 91% of respondents living locally to Windmill Playground.

Most of the survey respondents were in support of the proposed playground extension with 17 comments in favour and 4 against. It has also subsequently been discovered that the extension of the playground will not need approval from the secretary of state as we had originally thought which clears an important planning hurdle that could have led to a delay in implementing the scheme.

Option 2 came out as the preferred option with 70% of survey respondents selecting it as their first choice and so this option forms the basis of the final design with some small alterations based on your suggestions.

This includes:

  • An alternative climbing frame that offers more variety
  • A basket see-saw
  • Replacing musical play items with mirror and chalk board panels
  • The existing climbing frame being repainted green to fit in more with the surroundings of the common
  • A latch on both gates to the playground
  • New signage for Windmill Playground to make it clear that the playground is freely accessible to the public at all times

We can also confirm that no trees will be removed as a result of the playground refurbishment. Furthermore, there are plans to carry out planting at the base of the trees to enhance biodiversity and to help reduce soil compaction around the tree roots. There are also plans to improve planting in the flower beds on the roadside of the nursery building so it is more beneficial for biodiversity.

Wandsworth Council are planning to carry out some improvement works to the section of Putney Park Lane in front of St Margaret’s Church. The proposals aim to address flooding, pooling and the accumulation of mud and debris across the pedestrian links to the church grounds during and immediately after times of heavy and/or prolonged rainfall. Proposals to improve the forecourt area in front of the Church and the footpath link to the Church Office are also being considered.

This scheme is funded by Wandsworth Council through the Wandsworth Local Fund (WLF). This grant scheme pays for new and improved community facilities using funding collected from private development projects in the surrounding area.

Please click here for more details about the proposals

The works are due to start in June/July 2021 and expected to last for about six to eight weeks, weather permitting.

Please note, access along this section of Putney Park Lane may be temporarily limited due to the nature of some of the proposed works.

If you have any comments or questions regarding the scheme, please do not hesitate to contact us on 07725 114053 or email parks@enablelc.org by Sunday 21 March 2021.
