Public asked for feedback on £65k Latchmere Rec parks cash

Residents who spend time enjoying the green open spaces of a small park in Battersea are being asked for their ideas on how a £65,000 windfall could best be spent.

The council’s parks contractor, Enable, has commissioned an independent survey asking local people how the Latchmere Recreation Ground could be improved.

Latchmere Rec is in line for a £65,000 facelift

This small neighbourhood park with entrances in Burns Road and Reform Street is in line for a £65,000 cash injection provided by housing developers in the area who have been required to fund local community improvements.

Community services spokesman Cllr Jonathan Cook said: “Latchmere Rec is a little gem in the heart of Battersea that is well loved by local families.

“It has a children’s playground and is a good place to relax and enjoy the fresh air. Now there is money available to improve it and we want to hear how local people think this money would best be spent.”

People can take part in the consultation between now and August 7 by visiting www.bit.ly/latchmeresurvey. The consultants undertaking the survey will also engage with local residents and park users at a drop-in session at the Rec on Wednesday 27 July between 12.30pm and 6pm.

Once the initial results have been analysed, local people will be given a further opportunity to help shape the way the park could be improved.
