Pump House Gallery is delighted to present two new shows this summer…
Samara Scott and Sally Troughton, 4 August – 25 September 2016
SAMARA SCOTT
4 August – 25 September
Preview: 3 August
6.30 – 8.30pm
Come and see ‘liquid paintings’ at the iconic Pleasure Garden Fountains in the heart of Battersea Park this August and September.
Pump House Gallery presents a site-specific work by Samara Scott, combining Battersea’s rich industrial history with the tradition of outdoor works of art in the park.
Scott will be using bio-degradable dyes to colour the water in the fountains – creating a dynamic display that shifts and changes with the flow of water around the pipe systems. Watch out for the sculptural details lurking at the bottom of the pools…
This temporary installation engages with both the heritage site as a space for celebration and the industrial history of Battersea.
Samara Scott (b. 1985) lives and works in London. Recent solo exhibitions and presentations include; Frieze London, 2015; Silks, Eastside Projects, Birmingham, 2015; Harvest, The Sunday Painter, London, 2014; Poems, Almanac Projects, London, 2013.
SALLY TROUGHTON
4 August – 25 September
Preview: 3 August
6.30 – 8.30pm
Alongside Samara Scott’s installation in the park, Pump House Gallery presents the first solo presentation in a UK institution by London-based artist Sally Troughton. Troughton uses sculpture, media and textile fabrics to challenge how we position ourselves in a world where the borders between digital and analogue zones are increasingly blurred.
Troughton’s work is defined by her use of time as a medium. Taking on time and space in visceral ways she negotiates the shifting terrain of how we locate ourselves within identity and place.
Throughout the galleries Troughton uses a wide variety of materials to explore connections between home, identity, modes of orientation and new technological perspectives.
Sally Troughton (b. 1987) lives and works in London. Recent exhibitions include; Crab Walk, The Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art, Sunderland, UK; Recommended For You, ArtLicks, Alibaba, London.
