Battersea Park, Furzedown Rec & Wandsworth Common

This June and July Enable, in partnership with Wandsworth Council, are bringing Summer to Battersea Park, Furzedown Rec and Wandsworth Park for five weekends of free fun and activities.

We’ll be hosting a whole range of activities from yoga and fitness classes, Wimbledon screenings with a bar and street food and of course the famous Battersea Park dog show. Plus loads more!

Catch an eclectic selection of live music at the Bandstand from 11AM. From the Battersea Power Station community choir, to awesome bands curated by Global Local – there’s so much incredible talent to rock out too.

Plus, there’ll be street food and drinks to purchase whilst you’re there – just head to the… you guessed it… band stand.

Next weekend, Battersea Circus School is rolling into town. Circus Sensible will be putting live performances, as well as hosting workshops to take part in over the weekend. The kids will be juggling in no time! It’s completely free to attend and enjoy – first come, first served. No need to sign up in advance.

Let’s All Dance Ballet Company: The Princess and the Pea

After sell-out tours around the UK, Let’s All Dance is delighted to return to Battersea Park with a beautiful ballet showing of The Princess and the Pea.

Bringing an original score, gorgeous costumes and crystal clear story-telling, you’ll be drawn you into the magical world of ballet. There will also be dance workshops for boys and girls 4+, where children will learn simple dance moves and explore the characters from the show with their professional dancers.

 

 

Putney School of Art Design classes

Bring out your inner artist with a printing workshop by Putney School of Art and Design, hosted by author and illustrator Sophie Ambrose.

The Printing workshop will be based around the theme “Is nature out there or in here”, during which attendees will be working with found natural textures to create a range of poly-block and Lino prints from park flora and fauna.

Workshops are free for all to attend, and will be running from:

11:30 – 13:30
14:30 – 16:30

No need to sign up, just turn up and take part!

Additional Attractions

For an additional upgrade there’ll also be an Inflatable Obstacle Course. You’ll need to run, jump, crawl, squeeze and slide to get through this huge Wipe Out-style challenge, it’s the ultimate bouncy assault course fun! Suitable for children strictly ages 5 and over only, adults are not permitted.

Tickets £5 for three turns, available on-the-day.

For the little people there’s a dedicated under 5s play area, featuring bouncy castle and soft play area. Suitable for children under 5 only, children must be supervised at all times while using the equipment.

Tickets £3 for 15 minutes, available on-the-day.

Plus Dodgems and Bungee Trampoline all weekend (paid ticket available on-the-day).

 

The Battersea Park Dog Show returns this summer! On Saturday 26th June, the show will be back in full action at Battersea Park. The day consists of lots of fun for all the family, giving every pooch a chance to win one of the infamous rosettes presented by the Mayor of Wandsworth.

Battersea Park Dog Show Timings

This year the Pedigree classes are:

1. Any variety puppy (6-12 months old)
2. Any variety sporting (hounds, terriers, gun-dogs)
3. Any variety non-sporting (toys, working, utility)
4. Any variety open

Novelty classes include:

1. Best marching dog (Special Armed Forces Dog class)
2. Dog with the waggiest tail
3. Best veteran (over 7yrs)
4. Best minor (handler aged 6 to 16yrs)
5. Handsomest Dog
6. Prettiest Bitch
7. Dog in the best condition
8. Best rescue
9. Best dog owned by Wandsworth borough resident
10. Most appealing eyes
11. Dog the judge would most like to take home
12. Best crossbreed/mongrel
13. Dog with the most unusual markings
14. Dog with the cutest ears
15. Dog with the happiest temperament
16. Best trick performed – Special class sponsored by Friends of Battersea Park

The event is delivered by Wandsworth Parks and Events Police Service, in support of Armed Forces Day on behalf of Wandsworth Council. The Parks and Events Police are responsible for the routine patrolling of the parks, commons and open spaces within Wandsworth; the enforcement of byelaws, Dog Control Orders and other park regulations; and the policing of events. All funds raised will be donated to the Friends of Battersea Park.

Join us in the Beer Garden for the climax of the Wimbledon Championship and enjoy all the action from the Wimbledon Ladies’ Final live on our big screen. Grab a Pimms from the bar or some tasty street eats and get settled in for the big match with an atmosphere up there with Henman Hill!

Free entry. Live coverage from 14:00.

All ages welcome, under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Yoga and Wellbeing Sessions

Fancy something different? Stretch those limbs with some open aired Yoga or a relaxing Soundbath Meditation session. Suitable for all levels and abilities. You don’t need to be flexible, it’s all about having a good time and feeling better.

Tickets are £12 per person (+ booking fee) and spaces are limited, book in advance to reserve your spot. Tickets on sale soon.

Up for a challenge? Reckon you can reach the top? In that case we’ve got your harness and helmet waiting at the climbing wall where you can scale the 30-foot-high wall, safely coached by qualified climbing instructors.

Suitable for ages 6 and over. Ticket £5 available on-the-day.

Spirit of Football kick-off 

Alongside that, not-for-profit community interest company, Spirit of Football, stage their quadrennial kick-off from Battersea Park – home of the first official FA rules Football match in 1864. This year, Spirit of Football will see the very special ball take on a journey across the world to the Women’s World Cup 2023 in Australia and New Zealand.  

12:00: Official kick-off: The Ball and 1st half old school rules match 
12:30: 2nd half: Modern football match  
13:30: 3rd half: FairPlay matches open to all 
14:30: Live music, poetry readings and more live on-stage  

Everything is free to attend, with no need to pre-register – so just show up and enjoy!

REFUNDS

No refund shall be made if the Ticket holder is late, refused entry, evicted from the Event, unable to attend or has purchased an incorrect ticket.

Tickets are sold subject to the Organiser’s right to alter or vary the programme due to events or circumstances beyond their control without being obliged to refund monies or exchange Tickets.

Occasionally, inclement weather can disrupt an open-air event. Any decision to cancel the Event shall be taken by the Organiser. No refund shall be made if the Event starts but is later abandoned.

On entry, the Ticket holder agrees to accept and abide by any Event rules of the Organiser and any other regulations provided on entry to the Event.

The Organiser operates the ‘Challenge 25’ policy with regards to the purchase of alcohol.
