Wandsworth Instructor and Coach wins the Community Coach of the Year Award 2019

On Wednesday 5 December 2019, the annual UK Coaching Awards took place at the Tower Hotel in London to award people and organisations who play an integral part in coaching groups or individuals across the country. Andrew Beech has worked hard within Wandsworth to provide a coaching service to those in the community to encourage physical activity among all residents.

One focus that Andrew has been passionate about over the past year has been the Active Wellbeing programme, a programme that supports people with mental health conditions to encourage them to become more physically active.

Over the 10-week course Andrew has provided one to one support to clients, improving the individual’s overall quality of life and ensuring his work has a long-lasting impact on their lifestyle choices. From this course, clients have expressed how their confidence grew immensely with thanks to Andrew.

Alongside Enable’s Active Wellbeing course, Andrew has also been involved in a multitude of community classes training hundreds of young people in a wide range of physical activity. He is also a coach for Enable’s school coaching programme as a children’s Zumba instructor, whilst holding Zumba classes for adults at Battersea Sports Centre.

Andrew Beech, winner of the Community Coach of the Year Award, sponsored by Spond, said:

“I am in awe and ecstatic that I have won this award, hearing from people who have had lifechanging experiences as a result of my training was both phenomenal and humbling. This was a life changing event for which I am truly grateful”

Not only does Andrew provide his expertise in physical activity, but also generates funding for classes to ensure they are affordable and accessible for all. These wide range of achievements and commitments have contributed to Andrew winning this outstanding national award.

A massive thank you to Andrew, who works tirelessly within the borough to provide a safe and fun environment that all can enjoy while participating in physical activity. He is a large part of the Enable Leisure and Culture team, is a valued member of staff, and we are honoured to work with him in the community to provide a gateway to physical activity.
